Life and Employability Skills series

Our Life and Employability Skills series includes seven manuals for teaching the skills your students need for success in the classroom, in the workplace, and in life.

Overview

The Life and Employability Skills series is designed to help your students learn to get work done on time and to expectations, recognize and think through problems, make sensible suggestions and decisions, cope with a variety of situations and people, plan for the near and distant future, and be adept with modern technology.

The curriculum includes lessons, rubrics, activities and assessments

There are 60 skills in the seven life and employability areas. For each skill in each manual, the following are included:

  • A rubric: an organized and specific list defining the skill (what the skill is made of).
  • A lesson and a definition assignment: a written explanation of the skill, its importance, and how to use it. Students define the skill, its importance, and how they will use it.
  • An interview or observation assignment: students talk to people about or observe professionals using the skill in the workplace.
  • Comprehension assignments: students use the components of the skill to practice and improve.
  • Scenario assignment(s): students are put into real life situations which demand using the skill.
  • An improvement plan assignment: students assess themselves and have others assess them on their skills and how to improve upon them.
  • A performance assessment: for which students perform the use of the skill to produce a product or make a presentation (final assignment).
  • A certificate of completion: teachers can certify students in each skill as they complete all of the assignments.
